Bio

Swiss-born violinist Fariba Hunold enjoys an international career as a recitalist, a sought after chamber musician and orchestral player throughout North America and Europe. Known for her command of the instrument and her unfailing poise and grace.cropped-dscn2415.jpg

Born in Basel, Switzerland, she started her studies at the Basel Conservatory as well as the Geneva Conservatory. Ms. Hunold attended the International School of Geneva  before attending New York City’s Mannes College of Music where she received her Bachelor of Music with honors, studying with Lewis Kaplan. Ms. Hunold continued her studies with Irina Muresanu at The Boston Conservatory where she completed her Masters of Music.

Fariba has appeared at numerous prestigious festivals including Mozarteum Summer Academy, Bowdoin International Music Festival, Heart of Chamber Music at NEC, the Killington Music Festival, National Orchestral Institute and Round Top Festival where she has worked with such luminaries as Eteri Andjaparidze, Emmanuelle Boisvert, Matt Haimovitz, Kazuhide Isomura, Stephen Rose, Hakan Rosengren, Shanghai Quartet, Kathleen Winkler, Hiroko Yajima, Ying Quartet and Ben Zander.

Residing in Boston’s beautiful South End, Mrs Hunold actively performs and teaches.  She joined the Faculty of the Wellesley Public Schools in 2015, became a member of the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra in 2019 and is an artist in residence at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Wellesley.

In her free time Fariba likes to cook, exercise, read and go on walks with her husband Mike and their dog.
